EDUCATION - Saltwater Boot Camps: Casting Lessons + Guiding

Saltwater Boot Camps are a combination of my land-based Fly Casting Lessons with an on-the-water Guided Lesson.  These Boot Camps are a great way for us to work together on your saltwater success.  By packaging the casting lessons with a guided lesson I am able to help you transition your skill set more effectively from learning-to-doing in real conditions.  

Providing these educational services is the main reason I got my Captain's license and became a saltwater guide.  Who better to coach you through the whole process than an experienced Certified Instructor who teaches from the poling platform?

"Zero-to-Saltwater Hero" - Designed for beginner fly fishers wanting to learn saltwater fly fishing

• Three 2-hour land-based lessons + a HALF day guided lesson = $925*
• Three 2-hour land-based lessons + a FULL day guided lesson = $1050*
• 6 total hours of instruction includes: 2 hours of fly casting and line management basics; 2 hours of wind, accuracy and presentation techniques; and 2 hours of Saltwater Quick Cast and fishing techniques. 

"Adding Salt" - Designed for freshwater fly fishers wanting to learn saltwater fly fishing

• Two 2-hour land-based lessons + a HALF day guided lesson = $795*
• Two 2-hour land-based lessons + a FULL day guided lesson = $920*
• 4 total hours of instruction includes: 2 hours of wind, accuracy and presentation techniques; and 2 hours of Saltwater Quick Cast and fishing techniques.  

“Salt Star” - Designed for fly fishers with saltwater experience wanting to tune-up their casting or add a skill or two (i.e. hauling; improved distance/accuracy; wind techniques)

• One 2-hour land-based lesson + a HALF day guided lesson = $675*
• One 2-hour land-based lesson + a FULL day guided lesson = $800*
• Instruction includes: 2 hours of fly casting diagnosis and tune-up; and/or skills development.  

I offer the land-based lessons in Austin, Rockport, Houston, and Galveston areas primarily.  For lessons in other areas please contact me.

*These prices represent package discounts off full price lessons. To receive the discount, packages can be paid in full before or at the first session, or by pay-as-you-go and the final session will receive the discount.

Payment by cash, check, Venmo is preferred; payment by PayPal or with credit card with prior arrangement to the session and will incur a 3% fee.  

CANCELLATION POLICY FOR GUIDED LESSON PORTION OF A SALTWATER BOOT CAMP:

• Clients cancelling 15 days or more before the Guided Lesson booked date will have the option to: reschedule without penalty; or receive a full refund equal to the (discounted) Guided Lesson portion of the Boot Camp package price.
• Clients cancelling 4 to 14 days before the booked date will have the option to: reschedule for an additional fee of $100; or receive a refund equal to the (discounted) Guided Lesson portion of the Boot Camp package price except for $100.
• Clients cancelling 3 days or less before the booked date will have the option to: reschedule for an additional fee of $200; or receive a refund equal to the (discounted) Guided Lesson portion of the Boot Camp package price except for $200.
• Clients who no-show on the booked date will not receive a refund.
• NOTE: processing fees for credit card payments are non-refundable.
• NOTE: Having less than optimal conditions are a fact of saltwater fly fishing.  Unless the conditions are hazardous, fishing can still be productive.  I have many locations that optimize marginal conditions - sight casting can still happen in windy/cloudy/rainy/dirty water ... I know, I fish in these conditions and have still caught fish.  Cancellations by clients because of less than perfect conditions fall under the same policies as stated above.
• NOTE: Your safety is my priority.  If the weather/water conditions are unsafe and I make the decision to cancel I will reschedule you with no penalty.  If all rescheduling options are unsatisfactory I will refund you the amount equal to the (discounted) Guided Lesson portion of the Boot Camp package price.
