EDUCATION - Guided Lessons for Saltwater Fly Fishing

Are you wanting to improve your saltwater fly fishing skills?  My Guided Lessons are more education-focused than a basic guided trip.  And as a Certified Instructor with over 20 years of teaching experience, and with saltwater fly fishing as my specialty, I am uniquely qualified to coach you to greater success. 

I incorporate fishing drills and diagnostics into our time on the water.  Usually we start with some warm-up target practice from the boat, adding different skill sets in a progression so that once the sun is perfect you are relaxed, confident, and ready to fish and make the cast regardless of where the fish is or how the wind is blowing.  Other tutorials will be given throughout the time on the water.

Are you preparing for a trip to target a new saltwater species?  I have locations where I can simulate water and fishing conditions similar to what you will encounter with most of the popular saltwater species:

• Tracking down Bull Redfish in dirty water ... with a heavy fly
• Hunting Tarpon in 3 to 8 feet of water ... in the wind
• Stalking Permit on foot in waist deep water ... with a 10 weight
• Sneaking up on wary Bonefish in skinny water ... and presenting the fly perfectly
• Wading a sand flat for what seems like miles for a shot at a Giant Trevally ... with a fly the size of a shore bird on a 12 weight

Quality fly fishing equipment provided, if needed.  Water and ice provided. 

FULL DAY GUIDED LESSON

• $700
• 6 to 9 hours
• for 1 or 2 clients of similar experience level
• homemade lunch and snacks provided upon request
• clients provide: Texas saltwater fishing license; personal gear (I will send you my Recommended Gear List); other beverages; snacks/food (if not requested)
• additional information will be provided to the clients upon booking

HALF DAY GUIDED LESSON

• $550
• 3 to 5 hours
• for 1 or 2 clients of similar experience level
• clients provide: Texas saltwater fishing license; personal gear (I will send you my Recommended Gear List); other beverages; snacks/lunch (no food provided for Half Day trips)
• additional information will be provided to the clients upon booking

Deposits of a minimum of $200 per booked day are required to secure date(s).  Deposit and balance payable by:  cash, check, Venmo is preferred; payment by PayPal or with credit card with prior arrangement and will incur a 3% fee.  See Cancellation Policy below. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

• Clients cancelling 15 days or more before the booked date will have the option to: reschedule without penalty; or receive a full refund of monies paid.
• Clients cancelling 4 to 14 days before the booked date will have the option to: reschedule for a fee of $100; or receive a refund of all monies paid except for $100.
• Clients cancelling 3 days or less before the booked date will have the option to: reschedule for a fee of $200; or receive a refund of all monies paid except for $200.
• Clients who no-show on the booked date will be charged the full rate of the booking.
• NOTE: processing fees for credit card payments are non-refundable.
• NOTE: Having less than optimal conditions are a fact of saltwater fly fishing.  Unless the conditions are hazardous, fishing can still be productive.  I have many locations that optimize marginal conditions - sight casting can still happen in windy/cloudy/rainy/dirty water ... I know, I fish in these conditions and have still caught fish.  Cancellations by clients because of less than perfect conditions fall under the same policies as stated above.
• NOTE: Your safety is my priority.  If the weather/water conditions are unsafe and I make the decision to cancel I will reschedule you with no penalty.  If all rescheduling options are unsatisfactory I will refund your monies paid.
